Police are investigating after video emerged of a reckless driver without his hands on the wheel.Source:News Regional Media

An “idiot” truck driver has filmed himself speeding along a NSW country road with his feet comfortably up on the dashboard, and sitting in the passenger seat.

Perhaps what was more idiotic was to then post it to social media.

Police are investigating the incident.

“Yeah mate, yeah we’re the best two-up team. Yeah you’re dead bloody right,” the driver can be heard saying in the video.

The unnamed truckie appears to be talking to his imaginary friend, the driver. He sits in the passenger seat sprawled comfortably in the car, videoing the empty wheel.

“Nah he’s a pretty f***ing good driver this ****,” he jokes to himself.

“Keeping it on the road nice and steady, aren’t you buddy?”

Experts suspect that he had the car in cruise control. The video shows he had attached something to the wheel to keep it steady.

Joking with his imaginary mate who he christens as Reggie, he then says: “F**k we go good. We’re gonna drive all day and all night and all day and all night, hey Reggie.

“What’s going on? What do you reckon?”

Cackling at his own joke, he adds: “You don’t like my music? What do you mean you don’t like my f***ing music for? Reggie I’ll throw you out ****.”

The last shot of the death-wish incident has a little circle in the corner, so it appears this truckie posted it to his Snapchat story.

The driver is wearing vibrant sunnies in a split-second shot of the video. The half-filled circle in the corner indicates he was posting on Snapchat or a similar-looking social media platform.Source:Channel 7

However, the video soon emerged on Facebook, and quite predictably sparked outrage.

The driver claimed the video was posted on Facebook by another man after a failed extortion attempt.

He also defended himself by saying his daredevil act was filmed on private property.

“To be sitting in the passenger seat, when a truck’s moving at speed, is bordering on insane,” Steve Shearer from the Road Transport Association told 7 NEWS,

“You can’t legislate against stupidity. There will always be somebody who will do something stupid.”

The unnamed trucking company is from NSW but won’t confirm exactly when or where the incident happened.

According to 7 NEWS, the man is still working for the company but in a different role – hopefully a role that doesn’t involve driving.
